‘So Strong!’ Exhibition at Musée des Confluences: Extended to October 2026
The Musée des Confluences in Lyon is hosting the temporary exhibition “So Strong!”, focusing on the remarkable adaptation capabilities of animals in extreme environments. Originally designed for children aged 8 to 12, this exhibition is also open to the whole family. It is located on Floor 1, Room 13 (Petite galerie), and has been extended until October 18, 2026.
What to Expect from “So Strong!”
The exhibition explores how certain species manage to thrive in seemingly insurmountable conditions, such as scorching deserts, snowy peaks, or ice floes at -60 °C. It highlights fascinating biological mechanisms that animals have developed to adapt to these extreme environments.
- Camels: Store energy in their humps to go weeks without food.
- Llamas: Adapt to high altitudes and low oxygen levels.
- Emperor Penguins: Withstand temperatures as low as -60 °C.
These detailed yet accessible animal portraits invite visitors of all ages to understand the subtleties of adaptation and acclimatization in the animal kingdom.
A Child-Friendly Exhibition to Spark Curiosity
“So Strong!” was primarily designed for young audiences aged 8 to 12, using a pedagogical approach that makes scientific mechanisms comprehensible and stimulating. By decoding the survival strategies of these extraordinary animals, visitors are encouraged to reflect on what humans could also learn from nature. It’s a fun and educational invitation, ideal for a family outing in Lyon.
Whether you are curious about natural sciences, passionate about biodiversity, or simply looking for an original activity to share with your family, “So Strong!” offers plenty to marvel at and leaves you with many questions to ponder.
