Massive Traffic Jam on A43 Near Lyon After Accident
Lyon, May 12 – A significant traffic disruption occurred on Tuesday evening on the A43 motorway, east of Lyon, following a single-vehicle accident. The incident, reported around 5:50 PM, led to a massive traffic jam stretching from the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier toll barrier towards Chambéry and Grenoble.
The accident involved a single vehicle, and according to the Isère firefighters, the driver managed to secure themselves. Emergency services and motorway personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and clear the area.
An Hour-Long Delay for Five Kilometers
The congestion extended from the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier toll barrier to a few hundred meters before exit 6, Villefontaine. Motorists reported delays of approximately one hour to travel just five kilometers, significantly impacting evening commutes.
The accident occurred at kilometer 24 of the A43. Autoroute Info reported the presence of pedestrians at the accident site, urging drivers to exercise extreme vigilance while approaching the area.
This incident comes at a time when traffic in the Lyon region is already under scrutiny, with Bison Futé having previously warned of significant congestion, particularly during the Ascension long weekend.
