Just in time for the summer season, the brand new Auguste Delaune Aquatic Center in Vénissieux, a suburb of Lyon, welcomed its first visitors on June 1st, 2026. The facility, located at the corner of Jean-Cagne Avenue and Martyrs de la Résistance Street, boasts three swimming pools, a comprehensive wellness area, and an expansive outdoor space, following a year and a half of construction.

Modern Amenities for All Ages

The state-of-the-art center provides a range of options for swimmers and leisure-seekers. Inside, guests can enjoy a 25-meter sports pool, a learning pool, and an activity pool equipped with water games. The dedicated wellness area offers a relaxing escape for adults (or those aged 16 and above accompanied by an adult), featuring a sauna, hammam, sensory showers, and cold water buckets.

The outdoor facilities are equally impressive, designed for both recreation and sport. Visitors will find aquatic games, mineral and vegetated beaches, and multi-sport fields. For those interested in structured activities, the center offers various in-water fitness classes, including aquabike, aquafitness, and circuit training.

Special Opening Weekend and Local Discounts

While the standard full price for entry, covering both aquatic and outdoor spaces, is €6 year-round, residents of Vénissieux can enjoy a discounted rate of €5 upon presentation of proof of residency. To celebrate its grand opening, the Auguste Delaune Aquatic Center is hosting special open days this Saturday, June 13th, and Sunday, June 14th, with entry prices reduced to €2 and €3.

The open day program is packed with exciting activities for all ages, including an inflatable aquatic obstacle course, diving baptisms, an introduction to water polo, and demonstrations of yoga Pilates. These events aim to encourage community engagement and introduce residents to the center’s diverse offerings.

Community Impact and Future Prospects

The opening of the Auguste Delaune Aquatic Center represents a significant investment in the local community’s health and well-being. It provides a modern, accessible venue for swimming lessons, recreational activities, and relaxation, catering to a wide demographic.

The center is expected to become a popular destination for families, sports enthusiasts, and individuals seeking a tranquil escape. Its comprehensive facilities and varied program of activities are poised to enhance the quality of life for Vénissieux residents and attract visitors from the wider Lyon metropolitan area.

This new facility also highlights the ongoing development and revitalization efforts within Vénissieux, contributing to its appeal as a vibrant and dynamic urban center. The long-term impact on local tourism and community engagement will be closely watched as the center establishes itself as a key recreational hub.
