Paris, March 27 – Following the municipal elections on March 22, 2026, the 163 newly elected Paris Council members and 57 Metropolitan Council members are now in place, with preparations underway for the official election of the Mayor of Paris this coming Sunday, March 29.

New Council Members Take Their Seats

The new Council members were individually welcomed at the Hôtel de Ville on March 24 and 25, ahead of the inaugural Paris Council meeting. Each new member received a tote bag containing, among other items, their official Paris Council member sash.

During Sunday’s first session, the elected officials will be seated alphabetically. For subsequent sessions, seating arrangements will reflect their respective political groups. A photo studio was set up for the occasion, where Annah Bikouloulou, an ecologist elected from the 13th arrondissement, was photographed by City of Paris photographers.

A permanent ethics commission for the City of Paris provided an initial briefing to the new council members, emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct in their new roles.

The Paris Council is composed of 163 members. The ‘Paris est à vous, avec Emmanuel Grégoire’ list secured 103 seats, while the ‘Changer Paris, avec Rachida Dati’ list obtained 51 seats. The ‘Le nouveau Paris populaire’ list has 9 representatives.
