Orly, April 26 – The Paris FC training center, located in Orly (Val-de-Marne), was the target of an attempted arson attack on the night of Saturday to Sunday, just hours before the club’s 31st Ligue 1 match against Lille. The incident, first reported by Le Parisien and confirmed by RMC Sport through police sources, involved two unidentified individuals.
First Attempt Thwarted by Security
According to reports, gasoline was poured on the gates at the entrance of the training center around 1:00 AM by two individuals. Vigilant security guards at the center quickly spotted the act of vandalism and pursued the perpetrators, successfully preventing the fire from fully igniting. The club’s management confirmed that the fire was “aborted by our security.” The suspects have not yet been apprehended by the police.
Second Incident: Fire Affects Construction Equipment
Later the same night, the Orly police station received another call reporting a second attempted arson at the same location. This time, a fire did ignite and affected a piece of construction equipment. Details on the extent of the damage to the equipment were not immediately available.
Previous Vandalism and Ongoing Investigations
This is not the first time the Paris FC training center has been targeted. In September 2025, the club filed a complaint after vehicles parked at the center were damaged by vandals. At that time, the club stated, “The club is working closely with the competent authorities to shed full light on these facts.” As of Sunday, the club’s management declined to comment further on this latest incident.
Expansion Work and Lack of Motive
The recent incidents occur amidst ongoing expansion work at the Paris FC training center, which began in early April. These renovations aim to enlarge the facility within the Val-de-Marne departmental park, consequently reducing the hunting grounds of Grand Godet. However, no specific motive for the attacks has been identified by the authorities, and no leads regarding the identity of the perpetrators have been advanced.
Impact on the Club and Community
The repeated acts of vandalism raise concerns for the safety and security of the club’s facilities and personnel. While the immediate impact on the upcoming match against Lille is unclear, such incidents can disrupt team preparations and create an atmosphere of unease. The ongoing police investigation will aim to determine the motives behind these attacks and bring those responsible to justice.
