“Croquer l’info”: Satirical Drawings by Coco and Juin in Paris
Paris, May 2, 2026 – An exhibition featuring satirical drawings by renowned press cartoonists Coco and Juin is now open at the Benoîte Groult Library in Paris. Titled “Croquer l’info” (Biting the News), the exhibition showcases a selection of their work, all created during a significant meeting focused on women’s experiences in the war in Ukraine, held on March 6, 2025.
The exhibition, which is free to the public, offers a unique opportunity to view drawings that are both ironic and denunciatory, yet always infused with humor. These works serve as a powerful commentary on the ongoing conflict and its impact, particularly on women.
A Glimpse into the War in Ukraine Through Art
The drawings were created live during the “War in Ukraine: The Voice of Women” event, a discussion that featured poignant testimonies and reports. Among the speakers were journalist Clara Marchaud, author of “Un si long mois de février. Histoire intime de la guerre en Ukraine” (Such a Long February. An Intimate History of the War in Ukraine), and Franco-Ukrainian feminist activist and writer Inna Shevchenko, who penned “Une lettre de l’Est. Voix plurielle des femmes ukrainiennes” (A Letter from the East. Plural Voice of Ukrainian Women), which won the Prix des Femmes de Lettres 2025.
These artistic interpretations provide a raw and immediate perspective on the narratives shared by these influential women, capturing the essence of their experiences and insights into the conflict.
About the Artists: Coco and Juin
Corinne Rey, known as Coco, is a prominent press cartoonist for Libération and Charlie Hebdo, as well as a scriptwriter and comic book artist. Her work is recognized for its sharp wit and incisive social commentary.
Juin has been a reporter-cartoonist for Charlie Hebdo since 2015. In 2023, he published his first investigative comic book, “Bébés sans bras: un déni sanitaire” (Armless Babies: A Health Denial), in collaboration with journalist Mélanie Déchalotte.
Their combined talents bring a distinctive voice to the exhibition, blending journalistic integrity with artistic expression to shed light on critical global issues.
Part of a Larger Festival
This exhibition is an extension of the 2nd Festival for Information Decryption and Media Education, organized by the libraries, with the overarching theme of “Informing in a Post-Truth Era.” The festival aims to encourage critical thinking and media literacy among the public.
The Benoîte Groult Library is hosting several other free events as part of this festival, all of which require prior registration. The exhibition is accessible to people with reduced mobility, ensuring broad participation.
