Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, July 31 – A 34-year-old security guard is fighting for his life after being severely injured in an incident involving a dump truck on the parking lot of a Grand Frais store in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon. The event occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 31st, and has led to the arrest of the 61-year-old truck driver on suspicion of attempted homicide.
Critical Condition After Parking Lot Incident
The grave accident unfolded around 1:30 AM on the parking lot of the Grand Frais store located on Route de la Libération, in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, west of the Lyon metropolitan area. The security guard was reportedly struck and then run over by the dump truck. He was immediately transported to Édouard-Herriot Hospital in Lyon in critical condition, with his life prognosis engaged at the time of admission.
Alarm Triggered, Security Agent Dispatched
According to reports from Le Progrès, the store’s alarm had been triggered during the night. The security company responsible for monitoring the site dispatched the 34-year-old agent to investigate. Upon his arrival at the parking lot, the agent encountered the driver of a dump truck, who claimed to be there to collect the store’s waste.
The security agent reportedly asked the driver to wait while he conducted necessary checks. Initial investigations suggest that the agent may have positioned himself in front of the vehicle to prevent its departure. However, the truck reportedly restarted, hitting the thirty-year-old man and dragging him for several meters.
Driver Arrested for Attempted Homicide
The truck driver, aged 61, was located shortly after the incident on the parking lot of the Carrefour hypermarket in Francheville, a few hundred meters from the scene. He was apprehended by the police and taken into custody on charges of attempted homicide. Toxicological analyses have also been ordered to determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics at the time of the incident.
