Two Helicopters Mobilized After Road Accident North of Lyon

Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France, May 23 – On Saturday evening, emergency services were called to a road accident in Saint-Clément-de-Vers, a commune located approximately sixty kilometers northwest of Lyon, near La Clayette (71).

The incident, which occurred around 6:15 PM on Route des Jugnets, involved a single electric vehicle carrying two adults and three children, reportedly from the same family. The car veered off the road and collided with a tree in a ditch.

Significant Emergency Response

Upon receiving the call, firefighters deployed substantial resources to the scene. The driver of the vehicle contacted emergency services, but was unable to specify the exact location of the accident. Authorities were able to geolocate the call to pinpoint the incident site.

As a precautionary measure, two helicopters were dispatched to the scene. A mother and her daughter sustained physical injuries in the collision. Their condition, while requiring medical attention, was not life-threatening, and they were transported in a state of relative emergency.

Investigation Underway, Driver Not Impaired

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or narcotics at the time of the accident. The exact cause of the vehicle leaving the road is currently under investigation.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads, especially during this extended sunny weekend. The Rhône department has recorded 16 fatalities from road accidents since the beginning of the year, highlighting the importance of vigilance.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of emergency services in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to ensure public safety on the roads.
