Claire Fontaine Appointed General Manager of Renault Trucks Grand Lyon, Overseeing 200 Employees and Five Dealerships
Lyon, May 12 – Claire Fontaine has been appointed General Manager of Renault Trucks Grand Lyon, a division of the French truck manufacturer headquartered in Saint-Priest. The announcement was made on Monday, May 11. Fontaine will be responsible for the company’s five dealerships in the Grand Lyon area (Corbas, Lyon Gerland, Vaulx-en-Velin, Vaulx-Milieu, Saint-Jean-de-Bournay) and a team of 200 employees. She succeeds Grégory Bonnard in this role.
From After-Sales Director to General Manager
Fontaine, 45, is a graduate of the EDHEC Business School in Lille. Her career in the industry began with a six-month internship at Michelin in the United States. She joined the Renault Trucks group in 2016, where she held various positions, including in the marketing department at the Saint-Priest headquarters. Since 2022, Claire Fontaine has served as the After-Sales Director for Renault Trucks Grand Lyon, managing a department of 120 employees, including workshop managers, store managers, mechanics, bodybuilders, and warehouse workers.
Employee Safety and Decarbonization: Key Priorities
Fontaine has outlined her primary objectives for her new role. “My absolute priority will always be the health and safety of my teams. The best way to avoid recruitment problems is to retain our employees,” stated Claire Fontaine. This focus on employee well-being is central to her leadership philosophy.
Another significant challenge for the new General Manager will be to “maintain the brand’s leadership position,” as Renault Trucks currently holds “38% of the market share in its territory,” according to a press release. Decarbonization, supported by the electrification of the fleet, will also be a crucial part of her roadmap.
This commitment to decarbonization is exemplified by the recent opening of the new Renault Trucks City workshop within the urban logistics hotel at Port Edouard-Herriot in the Lyon-Gerland district. This pilot site aims to assist logistics companies in decarbonizing last-mile deliveries and is intended to be replicated by Renault Trucks in other regions.
Renault Trucks, part of the Volvo Group, operates four production sites in France and employs 10,000 people worldwide, though its turnover figures were not disclosed in the announcement.
The appointment of Claire Fontaine is expected to bring a renewed focus on both internal human capital and the company’s environmental responsibilities, reinforcing Renault Trucks Grand Lyon’s position in the market.
