Paris, July 1st – A woman armed with a knife was shot and killed by police on Wednesday following an altercation in a restaurant in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. The incident occurred shortly after 5 PM on Rue Wattignies.

Police Called to a Disturbance

According to the Paris Police Prefecture, officers were called to the scene after reports of a woman barricaded in the basement of a restaurant. Upon their arrival, the woman reportedly became threatening and attacked a female police officer with a knife, inflicting minor injuries.

A police officer present at the scene then discharged their weapon multiple times to neutralize the assailant. Despite immediate intervention by emergency services, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured police officer sustained only minor wounds.

Woman Described as Being in a State of Delirium

When contacted by actu Paris, the public prosecutor’s office provided additional details, stating that initial reports described the woman as being in a state of delirium. The intervening officers explained that she suddenly appeared with a knife and attacked a female officer.
