European Heritage Days in Paris: ‘Dare to Bid’ at Gros & Delettrez
The European Heritage Days on September 19 and 20, 2026, will offer a unique opportunity to explore the usually exclusive world of auctioneering. Gros & Delettrez, a renowned Parisian auction house located at 2 rue de Bérite in the 6th arrondissement, will open its doors to the public. This event, themed “Dare to Bid,” aims to introduce the general public to the profession of an auctioneer through a series of engaging activities.
What to Expect at Gros & Delettrez?
Founded in 1982 and taken over by Charles-Édouard Delettrez in 2019, Gros & Delettrez moved to its new 6th arrondissement location in 2025. This new space is designed to be a cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, conferences, and public events. The European Heritage Days perfectly align with this vision of openness.
Event Schedule and Activities:
- Exhibition: “From Auctioneer to Auctioneer: A Journey Through the History of Auctions”
This exhibition traces the evolution of auction sales in France and England from the 18th century to today. It features ivory gavels, old catalogs, posters, and archives from the personal collection of expert Geoffroy Ader, showcasing the key figures and traditions that shaped the profession. - Free Appraisals
Throughout both days, visitors can have their artworks, jewelry, or collector’s items appraised for free. Two confidential spaces will be available for these appointments with the house’s specialists, with no fees or obligations. This is a practical opportunity to discover the historical or market value of an inherited or long-held item.
