Paris, August 12 – A significant fire broke out yesterday, Tuesday, August 11, in Louvres, Val-d’Oise, near Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. The blaze, which started in a parking lot within an industrial area, generated an impressive plume of black smoke visible for several kilometers, even reaching parts of Paris.

Emergency Response and Closures

The incident prompted immediate safety measures. Two runways at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport were temporarily closed as a precaution, although initial reports indicated no disruption to air traffic. Additionally, the Aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle 2 RER station was also shut down.

Approximately 80 firefighters were mobilized to combat the flames, which affected several vehicles in the parking lot. Emergency services urged the public to avoid the area during the intervention.

Visible Smoke and Public Impact

The town of Louvres, located just a few kilometers from the airport, was close enough for the massive smoke plume to be clearly visible from the runways. Images captured from planes and surrounding areas showed thick black smoke rising over the sector, underscoring the severity of the fire.

The smoke was reportedly seen from central Paris, highlighting the extent of the emission and its potential impact on air quality, though no official statements regarding air quality have been released.

Investigation Underway

The exact circumstances surrounding the origin of the fire are still under investigation. Firefighting operations are ongoing, and the situation is subject to further developments in the coming hours.

Authorities are expected to provide more details as the investigation progresses and the fire is brought completely under control. The closures of the runways and RER station are temporary, and updates on their reopening will be provided by relevant authorities.

This event underscores the importance of swift emergency response and precautionary measures in maintaining public safety and operational continuity in critical infrastructure areas.
