Lyon, September 9, 2026 – The inaugural edition of The Grand Dialogue is set to convene nearly 1,000 participants at Cirque Imagine, just outside Lyon, on October 3, 2026. This unique event, spearheaded by five Lyon-based entrepreneurs, is designed to explore and implement innovative approaches to communication, active listening, and conflict resolution, applicable in both personal and professional settings.

A Day Dedicated to the Practice of Dialogue

Diverging from traditional conference formats, The Grand Dialogue emphasizes participatory engagement. Attendees will be encouraged to interact in pairs, small groups, and collectively, focusing on techniques for active listening, gaining perspective, and confronting differing viewpoints constructively.

The event aims to attract a diverse audience, including business leaders, employees, elected officials, teachers, students, community leaders, parents, and general citizens. Organizers anticipate approximately 1,000 participants from various social backgrounds for this pioneering edition.

The initiative stems from the observation that managing disagreements has become increasingly challenging across numerous societal spheres. While the organizers’ diagnosis of public debate polarization is notably alarmist, the issue also holds significant practical relevance for businesses. Organizational transformations, social tensions, intergenerational management, and collective decision-making regularly present leaders with divergent positions that require collaborative resolution.

Participants are expected to leave with actionable methods that can be applied in their professional, associative, or family environments. The primary goal is not to eliminate disagreements but to establish conditions that allow them to be expressed without breaking down dialogue.

Education as the Theme for This First Edition

The October 3 event will revolve around the central question: “Living and succeeding together: is it simply a matter of education?” The term “education” here is used in its broadest sense, extending far beyond the confines of the school system.

Discussions will specifically delve into how education shapes collective behaviors, cooperation, conflict management, and the exercise of responsibilities. This broad approach allows for the inclusion of education professionals alongside business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community actors who face similar challenges within their respective organizations.

For business leaders, these topics directly relate to management issues such as: how to arrive at a decision when multiple interests conflict, how to sustain a discussion when positions harden, or how to enable collaborators from diverse backgrounds to work together effectively.

However, The Grand Dialogue is not positioned as a management seminar. The event maintains a broader vocation, intending to bring together diverse publics who rarely have the opportunity to interact within the same framework.

An Initiative Led by Five Lyon Entrepreneurs

The project originated from the vision of five Lyon entrepreneurs, united by the belief that dialogue can serve as a tangible tool for transforming individual and collective relationships.

This first edition will also assess the format’s capacity to extend beyond a single day. The organizers hope to inspire participants to replicate the practices learned in their businesses, associations, communities, and families.

The Grand Dialogue will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Cirque Imagine, on the outskirts of Lyon. For this inaugural event, the challenge will be as much about bringing together 1,000 diverse individuals as it is about making dialogue itself the central content of the occasion.
