Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France – A new seasonal direct flight route connecting Rennes and Lyon has been inaugurated by Twin Jet, a regional French airline. The service, which began yesterday, July 20, will operate daily from Monday to Friday until August 28, 2026. This initiative aims to strengthen the links between these two vibrant economic and cultural hubs.

Twin Jet Enhances Domestic Network with Rennes-Lyon Link

The new route is part of Twin Jet’s strategy to expand its domestic network, particularly during the summer season. The airline emphasizes that the new service is designed to meet the growing demand for improved mobility between two significant French regions.

Flights will depart from Rennes at 6:40 PM, arriving in Lyon at 8:20 PM. For the return journey, planes will leave Lyon at 4:30 PM, landing in Rennes at 6:10 PM. This schedule ensures a convenient daily round trip for both business and leisure travelers.

Connecting Dynamic Regions: A Strategic Move

Eric Moret, General Manager of Twin Jet, commented on the launch: “The opening of this route between Rennes and Lyon responds to a real demand for connectivity between two dynamic regions. We are committed to bringing territories closer by offering fast, efficient, and tailored transport solutions to travelers’ needs. This line fully illustrates our desire to maintain interregional exchanges during the summer period.”

Twin Jet, established in 2001, is a regional French airline headquartered in Aix-en-Provence. The company operates a fleet of 13 aircraft, each with a capacity of 19 seats. It conducts nearly 200 regional flights weekly, serving 13 destinations across France and Italy.

Twin Jet’s Expanding Presence in Rennes

This new route is not Twin Jet’s first venture into enhancing connectivity from Rennes. In May 2023, the airline launched a direct service between Rennes and Toulouse. Following its success, this offering was reinforced in January 2024 and again in May 2024. Currently, Twin Jet operates three daily direct round trips between Rennes and Toulouse.

As a Flying Blue partner, passengers flying with Twin Jet can accumulate miles and redeem them across all member airlines of the alliance, adding further value for frequent travelers.

Industry Context and Future Outlook

The introduction of this new seasonal route highlights the airline industry’s efforts to adapt to evolving travel demands, particularly in connecting regional centers. The focus on interregional connectivity during peak seasons reflects a broader trend of optimizing travel options within France and beyond.

The strategic importance of such direct links extends beyond tourism, fostering economic exchange and facilitating professional mobility between key urban areas. As the summer season progresses, the performance of this new route will likely inform future decisions regarding its potential extension or expansion.
