Paris, July 20, 2026 – Renowned pastry chef Jeffrey Cagnes, known for his innovative creations and presence on culinary television shows, has seen his Parisian pastry empire crumble. His company, which operated three boutiques in Paris and one in Levallois-Perret, has been placed into judicial liquidation by the economic activities court on June 12, 2026, as revealed by L’Informé. This follows a period of judicial receivership that began in September.

Financial Difficulties Lead to Liquidation and Layoffs

The decision to liquidate carries significant consequences for the young brand, which Cagnes launched in 2021. Out of 41 employees at Jeffrey Cagnes Paris, 15 will be economically laid off. This marks a difficult turn for a chef whose official website describes his career as a “culinary odyssey, rich in movements and successive anchorages.”

Cagnes’s impressive resume includes a stint as head pastry chef at Stohrer, Paris’s oldest pastry shop, and a background that began with an apprenticeship under MOF Pascal Caffet. He gained public recognition through appearances on shows like “Le Meilleur Pâtissier” and “Top Chef,” where he served as a guest chef and judge, respectively. He also boasts a significant social media following of nearly 650,000 subscribers.

The Rise and Fall of Maison Jeffrey Cagnes

Maison Jeffrey Cagnes began its journey in 2021 with the opening of its first boutique on Rue des Moines (17th arrondissement). A second location followed in 2022 on Rue Montorgueil (2nd arrondissement), and a third in late 2023 on Boulevard de la Madeleine (1st arrondissement), in collaboration with the automotive brand Cupra. In 2024, Cagnes expanded beyond Paris, opening his latest shop in Levallois-Perret.

However, financial challenges ultimately led to the company’s downfall. According to L’Informé, two of his prime locations are already slated for new ownership. The Rue Montorgueil site will be taken over by Josette, a company that operates a coffee shop in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The bakery on Rue des Moines will be acquired by the company behind Maison Louis, an artisanal pastry shop located near the Pantheon (5th arrondissement).

Future Plans and Industry Impact

Despite these setbacks, Cagnes’s official website indicates a strategic refocusing of his activities. This involves reducing the number of physical boutiques and concentrating more on collaborations and unique pastry experiences. New projects are reportedly in the pipeline, with announcements expected from late 2026.

This development highlights the volatile nature of the culinary world, even for celebrated figures. The closure of Jeffrey Cagnes’s boutiques will undoubtedly leave a void in Paris’s vibrant pastry scene, known for its fierce competition and high standards.

The impact on the Parisian culinary landscape, particularly the artisanal pastry sector, remains to be seen. However, the incident serves as a reminder that even talent and public recognition do not always guarantee financial stability in a challenging economic environment.
